2005 Academy Award winner for Achievement in Visual Effects, SPIDER-MAN 2 is Sony Pictures Imageworks’ first film to feature realistic principle digital human characters whose facial performances were motion captured.
Tobey Maguire and Alfred Molina were the first actors to have their likeness recorded by USC's Lightstage for a feature film. Remington worked on building the character facial animation with the Lightstage team.
Remington directed and supervised facial acquisition and motion capture sessions of Tobey Maguire (Peter Parker) and Alfred Molina (Dr. Otto Octavius) as well as created all facial animation for the film.
“Remington was responsible for making sure that our actor's performances translated onto the screen through our digital doubles. He did an amazing job of this, being responsible for everything from the motion capture sessions to the final 3D facial geometry that got passed to the lighters for each shot. There is a lot of Remington's attention to detail and nuance in our CG actors!”
